Regulator: Ordine degli Assistenti Sociali (regional Ordini, sections A and B of the Albo) coordinated by the Consiglio Nazionale dell'Ordine degli Assistenti Sociali (CNOAS). CPD governed by the Regolamento per la formazione continua deliberated by the National Council on 22 October 2022, in force from 1 January 2023.

Psychotherapist (Psicoterapeuta) - specialization
Regulator: Not a stand-alone profession: psychotherapy is a legally recognised specialization annotation on the Albo of either the Ordine degli Psicologi (CNOP) or the Ordine dei Medici (FNOMCeO), under art. 3 of Legge 56/1989, obtained after a state-recognised 4-year psychotherapy training. Continuing education is the ECM obligation of the underlying health profession (psychologist or physician).

No fixed subject quotas by discipline; credits are earned via residential events, FAD (e-learning/home study), FSC (field/on-the-job training) and individual training (e.g. research, publications, university teaching).
