Greece CE Requirements by License

CPDSocial work is a regulated, licensed profession in Greece. A practice license (adeia askisis epaggelmatos) is required (historically issued under P.D. 23/1992), and registration with SKLE - converted into a public-law professional chamber with mandatory membership by Law 4488/2017 - is compulsory to practice. SKLE maintains a professional registry and a code of ethics and actively promotes continuing education, but Greek law does not set a fixed statutory number of periodic CPD hours as a condition of retaining the license or SKLE membership. CPD is encouraged rather than a quantified legal mandate.

CPDCounseling and psychotherapy are NOT state-regulated or licensed professions in Greece as of July 2026. There is no protected title, no statutory practice license, and therefore no legally mandated CPD. Voluntary membership associations may set their own accreditation and CPD expectations for members, but these are private standards, not legal requirements. Draft legislation to regulate mental-health counselling/psychotherapy has been discussed over the years but was not enacted into a licensing-plus-CPD regime.

CPDGreece licenses psychologists through a one-time practice license (adeia askisis epaggelmatos), granted by the regional authority under Law 991/1979 (as amended by Law 2646/1998) on the basis of a recognized psychology degree. The license does not expire and there is no statutory periodic renewal; Greek law imposes no fixed number of continuing education / CPD hours as a condition of maintaining it. Continuing professional development is encouraged by professional and scientific bodies (SEPS, ELPSE) and via the voluntary EFPA EuroPsy certificate, but it is not a legal requirement for continued practice.

CPDMarriage and family therapy is NOT a distinct state-regulated or separately licensed profession in Greece as of July 2026. Systemic/family therapy is practiced as a private specialization by clinicians who may hold another regulated credential (e.g., psychologist license) and complete training at private/accredited institutes. There is no protected MFT title, no statutory license, and no legally mandated CPD; any continuing-education expectations come only from voluntary training institutes or associations (e.g., EFTA-affiliated bodies).

CPDThere is no Greek statutory license or regulator for behavior analysts. BCBA is a voluntary international (BACB) credential; any CPD/CEU obligation (e.g., the BACB's continuing-education requirement per recertification cycle) flows from the private certification body, not from Greek law. Applied behavior analysis services in Greece are typically delivered by professionals licensed under another category (e.g., psychologists) or without a dedicated statutory ABA license, and Greek law mandates no periodic CPD specific to behavior analysis.
