France CE Requirements by License

CPDSocial work is a regulated, diploma-based profession in France: use of the title 'assistant de service social' and its exercise legally require the Diplome d'Etat d'assistant de service social (DEASS, conferred grade licence / Bac+3 since 2018), under the Code de l'action sociale et des familles (Art. L411-1 et seq.). The diploma must be declared/registered (historically via ADELI). However, there is NO individual statutory periodic CPD mandate tied to holding the title or to license renewal - the profession has no ordre and no mandated CPD hours/cycle. Continuing training exists through employer obligations under the general vocational-training framework (formation professionnelle continue, Code du travail), but this is an employment-side duty, not an individual re-certification requirement.

CPDThe title 'psychotherapeute' is a protected/regulated title in France (Decret n. 2010-534 du 20 mai 2010, modified by Decret n. 2012-695 du 7 mai 2012). Use of the title requires specified qualifying training - a minimum of 400 hours of theoretical training in clinical psychopathology plus a practical internship of at least 5 months - accessible to holders of certain diplomas (medicine, a Master in psychology or psychoanalysis, etc.). Registered practitioners are entered on the registre national des psychotherapeutes held at the prefecture/ARS. This training is an ENTRY/qualification requirement, not a recurring obligation: there is NO statutory periodic CPD mandate to maintain the title. Practitioners who are also physicians or psychologists may separately follow those professions' rules, and any deontological/continuing-training expectations come from voluntary professional associations, not from statute.

CPDFrance does NOT statutorily mandate periodic continuing professional development (CPD) for psychologists. The title 'psychologue' is legally protected under Article 44 of Loi n. 85-772 du 25 juillet 1985 and requires a Master (Bac+5) in psychology plus a professional internship; holders must register their diploma and obtain an ADELI number (now transitioning to the RPPS shared health-professional register). Psychologists are NOT classified as a 'profession de santé' in the ordinal/Code de la sante publique sense, so the mandatory Developpement Professionnel Continu (DPC) obligation that applies to regulated health professionals does NOT cover them. A Code de deontologie des psychologues exists (1996, revised 2012/2021) and encourages ongoing training, but it has no binding legal force and imposes no enforceable CPD hours. There is therefore no statutory hour count or renewal cycle.

CPDMarriage and family therapy is NOT a distinct, statutorily regulated profession in France. There is no MFT license, protected title, register, or governing board. Couples/family therapy is practiced under the protected titles 'psychologue' or 'psychotherapeute' (or by physicians), and any relevant rules follow those professions. Consequently there is no statutory CPD mandate specific to MFT.

CPDBehavior analysis / BCBA is NOT a statutorily regulated profession or protected title in France. There is no French license, register, or governing board for behavior analysts. 'BCBA' is a private, voluntary certification issued by the US-based Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB); any continuing-education obligations attached to it are contractual requirements of that private certification (BACB CEUs), not French statutory CPD. French practitioners delivering ABA typically do so under other titles (e.g., psychologue) whose rules then apply.
