Bulgaria CE Requirements by License

CPDSocial work is NOT an individually licensed/registered profession in Bulgaria as of July 2026, and there is no statutory personal CPD mandate for social workers. Entry is via higher-education qualification; there is no professional chamber, no protected individual title, and no individual continuing-education/renewal requirement. The Social Services Act (Закон за социалните услуги, in force 1 July 2020) and its quality standards place obligations on social-service PROVIDERS — including ensuring supervision and ongoing training/professional development of staff — but these are employer/provider quality obligations, not an individual licence-linked CPD requirement with a defined hour total. A voluntary Bulgarian Association of Social Workers exists but is not a statutory regulator. No statutory hour total or cycle applies to the individual.

CPDPsychotherapy and counselling are NOT statutorily regulated in Bulgaria as of July 2026. The titles 'psychotherapist' and 'counsellor' are not legally protected, there is no state licence and no public register, and therefore no statutory CPD requirement. Practitioners typically train through private psychotherapy institutes and belong to voluntary professional bodies; where CPD, supervision hours and re-accreditation apply, they are contractual requirements of those associations or of the European Association for Psychotherapy (ECP certificate), not obligations imposed by Bulgarian law. No statutory hour total or renewal cycle exists.

CPDPsychology is NOT statutorily regulated in Bulgaria as of July 2026. The title 'psychologist' is not legally protected and there is no state licence, so there is no statutory continuing-professional-development (CPD) requirement. Entry to practice is via a university degree in psychology (governed only by the Higher Education Act); anyone may otherwise use the title. A draft profession-of-psychologist law ('Законопроект за съсловната организация и дейността на психолозите в Република България') was adopted by the DPRB General Assembly on 8 Feb 2020 and submitted to Parliament, but has NOT been enacted by the National Assembly — the DPRB itself describes regulatory procedures as things it would apply only 'in case the law is adopted.' The only CPD-type obligations are voluntary: the DPRB's public register uses a periodic re-registration system that records the member's evolving qualifications, and the DPRB is pursuing EuroPsy certification (application for a Bulgarian EuroPsy National Awarding Committee filed 11 Jan 2021), under which CPD is a EuroPsy standard rather than Bulgarian law. No statutory hour total or cycle exists.
