Home study: At least 15 of the 20 hours must be formal in-person education; no more than 5 hours may be informal/self-directed (home study).

Board notes: Vermont DOES require CE for LICSWs: 20 hours per two-year (biennial) renewal, of which at least 15 must be formal in-person and at least 1.5 must be ethics. Administered by the VT Office of Professional Regulation (OPR); ASWB/board-approved providers accepted. Per H.305 (2023) synchronous (live/interactive, not pre-recorded) virtual CE counts as in-person where rules require face-to-face. Renewal date is set/printed by OPR on the certificate.

Board notes: Regulated by the Board of Allied Mental Health Practitioners (OPR) under Administrative Rule ch. 350. 40-hour requirement begins with the first renewal after two years of licensure. Board notes: Rule 8.5(c) requires no fewer than 24 of the 60 hours from 'large group and formal presentation activities' (interactive programs/webinars with a live exchange among participants), so at least 24 hours must be live/interactive. Rule 8.6 allows small-group CE via electronic visual media, and H.305 (2023) treats synchronous virtual CE as in-person/live. The 60-hour requirement applies beginning with the first renewal after two years of licensure.

Board notes: Vermont licenses applied behavior analysts through OPR (26 V.S.A. ch. 95). Under 26 V.S.A. §4925(c), the Director may require CE by rule and 'may accept proof of current BACB certification as evidence of continuing competency,' i.e., maintaining BACB certification (32 CEUs/2 years incl. 4 ethics, plus 3 supervision CEUs for supervisors) satisfies the CE mandate. §4925(c)(2) additionally requires one or more CEUs in systematic oppression/anti-oppressive practice (effective July 2024 renewal). Total reflects the BACB baseline; the systemic-oppression CEU may be counted within or in addition to it.
