Missouri CE Requirements by License

Missouri

• Ethics — 3 hPresented by a social worker from an accredited school of social work or a professional with knowledge of ethics (20 CSR 2263-2.082(2)(A)).
• Suicide assessment, referral, treatment, and management — 2 hMandated each renewal period (20 CSR 2263-2.082(2)(B)).

Home study: Correspondence courses may not exceed 50% of the required hours (max 15 of 30) per 20 CSR 2263-2.082(5). Live interactive webinars, workshops, and self-study programs are all accepted; no live/in-person minimum.

Board notes: Missouri Committee for Social Workers. 30 clock hours per biennial renewal (licenses expire Sep 30). CSR mandates 3 ethics + 2 suicide hours ONLY - there is NO diversity/cultural-competency CE requirement (baseline's 3-hr diversity topic was not found in the rule and was removed). Correspondence is firmly capped at 50%; no evidence of an ongoing waiver.

Missouri

No specific subject mandates — general CE hours only.

Home study: Self-study capped at 20 of 40 hours (50%); at least 20 hours must be 'formal' CE (20 CSR 2095-1.064(4),(6)). 'Formal' CE includes online/distance courses, workshops, seminars, meetings, and post-graduate coursework - it need NOT be live/in-person, so there is no synchronous minimum.

Board notes: Missouri Committee for Professional Counselors. 40 hours per biennial cycle: minimum 20 formal, maximum 20 self-study. The official CE rule (20 CSR 2095-1.064) mandates NO specific topics - no ethics, no suicide, no cultural competency. Suicide-assessment training is OPTIONAL (permissive) under RSMo 324.046 ('may annually complete'). This differs from the LMFT and Social Work boards, which DO mandate a 2-hr suicide topic. Baseline's mandatory 2-hr suicide topic was removed accordingly.

Missouri

• Ethics — 3 h3 of the 40 credits must be ethics; may be Category A or B (20 CSR 2235-7.010).

Home study: At least 15 of 40 hours must be Category A (formal/accredited programs); remaining 25 may be Category A or B. Within Category B, independent/individual study of professional materials is capped at 10 hours (20 CSR 2235-7.030). Accredited distance/online CE can count toward Category A; no live/in-person minimum. Up to 15 excess hours carry over to the next cycle.

Board notes: Missouri State Committee of Psychologists. 40 hours per 2-yr reporting cycle running Dec 1 of odd years through Nov 30. Only mandated renewal topic is 3 hrs ethics; the CE rule (20 CSR 2235-7.010) contains NO suicide requirement, so the baseline's suicide entry (described as an initial-licensure item) was removed from renewal CE topics. Key constraints are the 15-hr Category A floor and the 10-hr individual-study cap.

Missouri

• Ethics — 4 hBACB requirement (4 of 32 CEUs).
• Supervision — 3 hBACB requirement, only for certificants who supervise others.

Home study: No Missouri state cap; BACB permits online/recorded (learning) CEUs. CE is governed entirely by BACB recertification standards.

Board notes: Missouri licenses behavior analysts through the Behavior Analyst Advisory Board (title: Licensed Behavior Analyst; assistant tier: LABA). Missouri does NOT set its own CE hours - renewal (by Oct 31 of odd-numbered years, biennial) requires maintaining active BACB certification and fulfilling BACB recertification/CE per RSMo 337.320.7 and 20 CSR 2063-2.010. Therefore the applicable standard is the national BACB requirement: 32 CEUs/2yr including 4 ethics (plus 3 supervision CEUs for supervisors). There is NO Missouri suicide-training requirement for behavior analysts - the baseline's 2-hr suicide topic and RSMo 337.315 citation were removed as inaccurate.
