Psychologist CPD Requirements in Poland

Psychologists in Poland follow a CPD-based model rather than a fixed hour total. MAJOR 2026 REFORM, BUT NOT YET OPERATIONAL. On 23 January 2026 a wholly new Act on the Profession of Psychologist and the Professional Self-Government of Psychologists was adopted (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 187, promulgated 18 Feb 2026), which repeals the 2001 act and creates: a protected right to practise (prawo wykonywania zawodu), a national Register, a real self-government (Krajowa Izba Psychologów + regional chambers), and a mandatory continuing professional development duty ('ustawiczny rozwój zawodowy', Art. 29) realised over rolling 5-year settlement periods called 'education periods' (okresy edukacyjne) and measured in educational points (punkty edukacyjne). CRITICALLY, as of July 2026 this is transitional and not yet in effect in practice: under Art. 161 the main provisions (licensing, the practice register, and the CPD obligation) enter into force only on 19 May 2028 (2 years 3 months after promulgation); only the provisions organising the first National Congress and setting up the self-government took effect 5 March 2026, and the old 2001 act stays in force until 19 May 2028. The actual number of educational points required and the accepted CPD forms are to be fixed later by the Krajowa Rada (Art. 29 sec. 9) and have not been set. Therefore no enforceable hour/point CPD quota and no functioning individual licence yet exist as of July 2026; total_hours is null pending the self-government's implementing resolutions.

CPD framework (Art. 29): duty of continuous professional development via postgraduate education (kształcenie podyplomowe) or professional development (doskonalenie zawodowe) organised/coordinated by the self-government; documented in a professional-development card (karta rozwoju zawodowego) held by the regional council; 5-year 'education period' begins 1 Jan of the year after the psychologist completes the supervised entry period or resumes practice; within 30 days of period end the psychologist submits confirming documents; the Krajowa Rada sets the number of educational points per activity and the total points needed (not yet issued).
