Regulator: BIG-register (CIBG, Ministerie van VWS) under the Wet op de beroepen in de individuele gezondheidszorg (Wet BIG)
CPDRe-registration in the BIG-register every 5 years is based on hours of professional practice, not on CPD hours. A GZ-psycholoog must have worked at least 3,120 hours as a healthcare psychologist over the 5-year period (approx. 12 hours/week average). If the work-hours standard (urennorm) is not met, re-registration can instead be earned via the scholing (accredited retraining/education) route. No fixed number of accredited CPD hours is mandated by the BIG-register for the basic GZ-psycholoog title.

Alternative scholing/retraining pathway (herregistratie via scholing) applies if the urennorm is not met. GZ-psychologen who are also entered in a specialist register held by the FGzPt (e.g. klinisch psycholoog) are exempt from filing a separate BIG re-registration because the specialist register requirements exceed the BIG standard.

Two combined requirements: (1) Work hours: minimum 4,160 total working hours AND at least 3,120 patient-contact hours over 5 years for unconditional re-registration (>=3,120 patient hours but <4,160 total = conditional; <3,120 patient hours = rejected); patient-bound work must be spread across >=60% of the weeks of the registration period. (2) Deskundigheidsbevordering (accredited CPD): minimum 200 accreditation hours over 5 years, comprising at least 100 hours continuing education (bij- en nascholing), at least 50 hours peer review/intercollegiale toetsing (intervisie), and 50 hours freely allocated.
