Stat. 148B.54 subd. 2 requires the equivalent of 40 clock hours of board-approved CE per 2-year renewal, of which at least 4 hours must address cultural responsiveness/diverse populations. During the first renewal (first four years) a licensee instead completes 12 additional postgraduate semester credits and/or 40 CE hours (15 CE hours per semester credit). No separate ethics-hour mandate and no live/interactive minimum in statute; all CE must be counseling-related. Keep documentation five years for audit.
