What else should LMFT renewals know in Texas?
Renews biennially under BHEC / Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists. Supervisors must pass the jurisprudence exam each renewal period. At least 15 of the 30 hours must come from a board-listed provider type. CE rule: 22 TAC 801.261. 22 TAC 801.261 also caps presenting, publishing an article, and teaching or taking a graduate course at 5 hours each and self-study at 1 hour; up to 10 unused hours may be carried forward to the next renewal period; records must be retained at least 3 years after the renewal period. Supervisors may claim 1 ethics hour for passing the jurisprudence exam. Associate (LMFT-A) licenses expire after 60 months, cannot be renewed, and carry no CE requirement.
