Alabama licenses behavior analysts (LBA) through the Alabama Behavior Analyst Licensure Board (Alabama Department of Mental Health, Admin Code Chapter 580-5-30B), but the chapter's only renewal CE condition is 'proof of continued certification by the certifying entity' (BACB) with no separate state CE hours, so CE equals the BACB standard: 32 CEUs per 2-year cycle, including a minimum of 4 ethics CEUs and 3 supervision CEUs for those who supervise. There is NO separate DEI/cultural-responsiveness CEU requirement - the BACB withdrew the planned standalone requirement; instead, as of March 2025 the BACB expanded the definition of Ethics CE to include events on cultural/contextual responsiveness, which count toward the ethics CEUs. Upcoming BACB changes effective January 1, 2027: supervision CEUs rise from 3 to 4 for supervisors (total stays 32 with 4 ethics); and (effective July 1, 2026) asynchronous CE events must include knowledge-check questions to grant CEUs.
