Resources · Path to Licensure

Step-by-step licensure pathways in Wyoming.

Wyoming has a distinctive two-board structure. The Mental Health Professions Licensing Board regulates four professions together — professional counseling, social work, marriage & family therapy, and addictions therapy — including state licensure of addiction therapists, which most states leave to a private certification board. The Board of Psychology regulates psychologists and, since 2023, behavior analysts at the state level. Wyoming uses a recurring two-tier “provisional then full” architecture with a near-uniform clinical-experience standard (3,000 hours / at least 1,200 direct / at least 100 supervision hours over 18–36 months), and participates in PSYPACT and the Counseling Compact. All six professions are state-licensed.
